Signal boxes are a special type of lever on a fence post. The signal box is used to activate or deactivate a train signal or switched rail up to fifteen blocks above it (without air gaps). Crossing signals can similarly be muted via signal boxes. Additionally they can be activated by interacting or by powering them with redstone.
