The boxcar's doors will open when you access it's inventory. The doors can be manually closed by interacting while sneaking.
Box car was added to TRAINS in version v1.0.1.

To craft Box Cars, place iron ingots in the top left, top middle, top right, middle left and middle right and bottom centre with a chest in the middle of the middle row and a truck in both the bottom left and bottom right.
