Buffer Tracks are end-of-line rail pieces. They are used to safely cap off a railway, providing a cushioned stopping point for rolling stock. When trains reach a buffer track, the impact is absorbed slightly, allowing even faster trains to come to a controlled stop without derailing.

Functionality

A buffer track prevents trains from running off the end of a line. Its built in cushioning effect helps absorb momentum, making it ideal for station termini, yard boundaries, and decorative rail endings. Trains simply slow into the buffer, making it far safer than stopping against a solid block.

Interaction

Players place buffer tracks like any other rail. Trains interact with them automatically when reached, and no extra controls are needed. They are typically used at the ends of tracks in stations, depots, tram lines, and rollercoaster routes.
